I walked at Greenlake and had a fun day today!
I walked briefly in clothing to the East Greenlake beach. There were a group of teens and/or others who swam out to a post and back, which I think people do to get permission to swim in certain areas. Below is a photo of a lifeguard watching the batch of swimmers swim to their post and back.
A short time later I was walking in undies and a sarong. I did not know that women whistle . . . but I was slightly ahead of two or three women who were walking and I heard . . . a gal whistle! At least I assume it was a gal whistling . . . since two or three gals were in the vicinity 5 to 15 feet behind me. Of course, we don’t normally think of women whistling.
I actually think that my butt is in need of improvement and work . . . I do some basic exercises to improve it . . . but it seems some people notice, anyway . . .
I was walking past the East Greenlake beach and there were people in a group and they were somewhat wet. I assume that they were of the group which had just swam out to a post and back. A gal of teen years came and hugged me and then a guy of teen years also hugged me.
I was nearing the ending of the walk and there was a very young girl and her mom. The mom was on a bench stationary and the girl was nearby walking about. I walked past and the girl started to read my sign and then she was walking on the lawn in the same direction as I was walking, to read a bit more of the sign. I turned and smiled and waved at her and the mom and blessed them.
As I was leaving the lake I was at the intersection of N 65th Street and E Greenlake Dr N. A few feet away, an SPD patrol vehicle drove past headed SW, but apparently not with any concern about me. I think in fact the female patrol officer in the passenger seat was smiling and perhaps cheerful. The patrol vehicle continued on to the stoplight area at N 64th and then onwards . . .
It turns out that on this particular day, there was or is no call logged into the online crime map in reference to me . . .
It is a bit funny that there have been dozens and dozens of the times that people have called and police have gone to Greenlake to check on me . . . and they have usually been at the lake between 20 minutes and 3 hours after I was there . . . and on this day, with no calls on the crime map, a patrol vehicle drives past–maybe 7 feet away–without concern and no 911 calls on this day . . . though obviously many times, in 2013 and 2014, the patrol vehicle has been simply at the SW point of the lake, watching and waiting . . .
The closest similar day was last year I think . . . I had just gotten dressed and got into my car to drive away and an SPD patrol vehicle drove past on East Greenlake Way N, headed west. However, I was probably dressed when they saw me . . . if they even had paid attention to my car.
I did remember then to pray for SPD patrol to be in the right place at the right time to stop or detect crimes . . .
I wrote that today was a fun day . . . a gal whistling at me and a kid walking on the lawn while continuing to read the sign were pretty fun!
