So, after several months of not being at church . . . I have a Sunday morning somewhat free . . .
I had previously emailed or gently prodded one of the preachers saying that it might help some people to know the Bible better and that some people at church are pretty sloppy about that even if they are better at many other things than I am.
And so, part-way through the message, Jay says something to the effect of “And what does I Cor 10:13 say?”
and I say immediately, “God will not tempt you beyond what you are able to bear.” or “God will not let you be tempted beyond what you are able to bear.” I hope I did not misquote it too badly . . . another verse says that God does tempt any man! Ha! I hope my misquote did not mislead!
I guess there is slightly more to the verse, but that is part of it . . .
13 No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
