The El Toro dress code controversy . . .

A 17-year-old honor student was rebuked and given detention for wearing a V-neck blouse at school in Orange county . . .

Here is my comment on facebook on the OC register page .  . .

I think there is a way to accomodate both.

Encourage the dress code Monday to Thursday and let Friday be casual day . . . and see if you can get voluntary compliance from the girls who wish to be a little provocative by asking nicely . . . The way that people are approaching this topic now, you are all guaranteeing some are going to be seriously upset. A girl in a v-neck blouse . . . if this is too distracting, the boys need a field trip to the beach . . .

Here is Danielle’s petition .  . .

Here is my petition . . .

About my petition . . .  In a high school of 1000 or so kids, sending 30 girls home or detaining them every Friday would not work for the school, and I think the school would give up, if 30 to 50 girls regularly broke the rules, knowing that they would have to study extra and learn . . .

The girls in La Cueva High school in New Mexico have been told that they can’t wear their cheerleading outfits to school on game days . . . people in Natrona county in Wyoming are told they must cover their shoulders . . . but Jordan Yates in Natrona claims that no research has found that dress codes improve performance . . .
